Carine Charaire and Olivier Casamayou, the duo of choreographers, creative directors and directors behind I COULD NEVER BE A DANCER, one of the guests for the First Franco-Chinese Fashion Meetings in Spring 2018, answered Proust Questionnaire for Doors.

Your most distinctive feature?

Carine: I never get angry and I try to make things come together.

Olivier: Impulsiveness and anger

What is your biggest fear?

Carine: Losing those close to me

Olivier: Losing control of reality. Losing the feeling that I am, even if it's an illusion, the master of my own decisions and my life.

What do you hate most about yourself?

Carine: Not knowing how to make a decision.

Olivier: My impulsiveness, absolutely.

What do you hate most in others?

Olivier: Cowardice

Who do you most admire?

Carine: No one in particular.

Olivier: Patti Smoth and Kate Bush. I love the fact that they retire from the art when they feel they don’t have anything pertinent to do. I find that takes an enormous courage.

What is your biggest achievement?

Carine: What we’ve done.

Olivier: The image people have of us.

What mood are you in?

Carine & Olivier: Open and excited.

What virtue is most overestimated ?

Carine: Frankness

Olivier: Intransigence of an artist

What feature do you least like about your appearance?

Carine & Olivier: My smile

Olivier: With age, the stomach has become a bit of a problem.

What is the quality you like most in a man?

Carine: A certain form of loyalty.

Olivier: Pure thoughts, absence of interest or calculation.

What is the quality you like most in a woman?

Carine: For me, there is no difference between a woman or a man.

Olivier: Freedom

Carine: Yes.

Olivier: Damn.

The biggest love of your life

Carine: My daughter

Olivier: Guillaume.

When and where are you happiest?

Carine: Often

Olivier: With Guillaume.

Your real life heros?

Olivier: My mother.

What talent would you like to have?

Carine: To know how to cook.

Olivier: Prescience, not to know everything but to have confidence in my intuition.

If you could change something, what would it be?

Carine: My lack of ambition.

Olivier: My physical appearance.

What occasion leads to you lie?

Carine: I lie by omission

Olivier: I try not to lie, but if I lie it’s so as not to deceive people.

If you were to die and come back as someone or something else , what would it be?

Carine: Something connected to the sea. I don’t know what exactly.

Olivier: A cat, that seems nice and quiet. You can do what you want, you don’t care, we know you are mad.

Where would you like to live?

Carine: Next to the sea.

Olivier: Tokyo.

What do you appreciate most in a friend?

Carine: Making me laugh, and distracting me from myself

Olivier: Loyalty to themselves and loyalty in the relationship

Your favourite authors?

Carine: Balzac, Stefan Zweig, Flaubert.

Olivier: Proust, Philip K. Dick.

Your biggest regret?

Olivier & Carine: There are many. Not having realized earlier that what we are doing is so important.

How would you like to die?

Carine: Sleeping by the sea.

Olivier: On a beach in Thailand with music.
